There are so many things that happen in the first month of bringing a baby home. So much to learn; both in things you thought you knew, and things you didn’t think you would have to know. In that short time, with so much to comprehend, the details are fleeting. Soft, silky strands of hair. A tiny, but strong fist wrapped around your thumb. Even the loud shrill cries of hunger change after the first month. It’s these minute details that I preserve in newborn sessions.
I love hearing from my former brides after the wedding. For many of my brides, we build such a relationship going into the wedding day, that it’s only natural to continue our friendship with the celebration of other life milestones. I was thrilled when Amanda sent me the good news about Baby Noah!
I came to their home in the Bay Area for this newborn session. Filled with their photos of their family, friends, and Giant’s and 49er’s paraphernalia, Baby Noah’s home is a haven of love and happiness. This little fella is a bit of a mover and a shaker in his sleep. Keeping the room toasty, we were able to keep him in almost his birthday suit for most of the shoot. It took a bit of patience, but I wanted to get those lovely grey eyes, another trait of newborns that tends to disappear with age. It’s crazy to think that a fella this little already has a clear personality. He’s really cuddly and a also a bit of a badass! His tiny ears, fingers, and toes will never be this small again. I loved meeting Baby Noah, and I’m so honored to capture another life milestone for this (growing) family!
For readers that are interested in the technicals, I shot this Bay Area newborn photography session mostly in medium format film with some digital shots, also known as a hybrid session. The film is Kodak Portra 800, and development and scan processed by The FINDlab.
