I knew that Baby Arham would have a fabulous photoshoot having a mother (and aunty) with such great taste. I was so happy to be warmly greeted by Ilma who gifted this shoot to her lovely sister as a surprise a month before Baby Arham joined us. We began with the ever so charming, big sister, Ayla, showing me her perfect little girl’s room in her adorable tutu dress and clutching her Dior blush, I’m talking beyond words, cute!
Like all newborn photography sessions, I shot Baby Arham’s photos with both film and digital cameras. In the right lighting situation, film gives me a beautiful rich and clean finish to the photos along with a wider dynamic range than digital. The digital camera allows me to capture fast-moving candid moments in almost all lighten situations that I normally would not be able to get in film.
After several email conversations about Mom’s taste and preferences for the final photos, I had a good idea of the style of images that would work with her growing collection of family photos, while still being able to keep things organic and natural to their daily lifestyle. I always recommend keeping props to a minimum and limited only to personal items that have a deep meaning to you in order to keep the focus on the newborn. Mom incorporated his first pair of shoes, a cute bowtie, and darling swaddle blanket and crown from found on Etsy for Baby Arham. The crown will be used in his future months milestone photos, and the sentiment on the swaddle was just so perfect for his relationship with his big sister.
This newborn photo session was simply darling. Here are just some of my favorites our day together.
