In a city as large and bustling as San Francisco, it’s a rare and special thing to be able to enjoy its beauty all alone and undisturbed; almost magical. When Michael asked Jenn to marry him, he went to lengths to ensure that it would be a surprise, read about their proposal story here.
For their engagement, Jenn and Mike extended their session into a pre-wedding session. The creative team wanted to create something with a romantic and whimsical touch. Pineapple Petals Studio created the lush, pastel, floral dream on the row boat on location. Overflowing with dahlias, mums, eucalyptus, and jasmine to name a few, the arrangement was a fragrant as it was beautiful. We went with an overflowing arrangement of various textures and colors to give the boat a romantic, yet organic feel, almost as if you could pick these flowers from a garden yourself. I love that Jenn went with a blue striped summer dress. It feels almost nautical, but mostly playful and sweet, a lot like Jenn! Mike went with with light polkadots on his shirt making the look very complimentary without matching too much.
The second part of the session was held in Shakespeare Garden, also found in the middle of the ever busy Golden Gate Park. The line of small trees creates such a beautifully intimate space in the park and we knew it would surely serve our vision. Strings of cotton and white hand-opened carnations transformed the space into an almost fairytale-like secret garden. With a slightly more vibrant color palette, Pineapple Petals Studio created a gorgeous, oblong bouquet, and equally stunning centerpiece to really tie the space together. This space was all about creating a romantic and intimate atmosphere in the middle of a busy park. Given the park’s proximity to some major museums, it was exceptionally private.
The final location of the session was the iconic Sutro Baths and surrounding trees. Jenn’s magenta dress is such lovely contrast to the hazy blue and gold sky. Using the same bouquet, it’s simply inspiring to see how the colors in the bouquet work well with both light and bold tones. The last stroke of magic came when we enjoyed the sunset and all the different hues of gold cast across the sky when fog was expected to dampen our day. This beautiful session took a lot of planning and collaboration with the uber talented ladies at Pineapple Petals Studio, and I could not be happier with our session.
